USA War Dead::

“Memorial Day” was first used in 1882, but did not become more common until after World War II, and was not declared the official name by Federal law until 1967 . On June 28, 1968, the United States Congress passed the Uniform Holidays Bill, which moved three holidays from their traditional dates to a specified Monday in order to create a convenient three-day weekend. The change moved Memorial Day from its traditional May 30 date to the last Monday in May. The law took effect at the federal level in 1971 . The holiday has endured as one where most businesses stay closed because it marks the beginning of the “summer vacation season”

Makes you wonder if we'll ever stop killing each other....or more likely as long as there are two humans left on this planet someone's going to want someone else dead.

There are multiple Jewish "Memorial days" the most recent wasn't too long ago, it commomorated the destruction of the 2 great temples in Jerusalem( by babylonians and Romans) on the same day! Hundreds of years apart.

The main day though is in Hebrew "yom hazikaron" - the day of remembrance, which commemorates the holocaust and the thousands of others wars that Jews or Judaism itself has been part of.

Ours is on the 11th minute of the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month (November). Everyone is expected to be silent for at least a minute. I once saw a whole busy street just stopping right there on armistice day for what seems like an eternity, then they resumed their activity.

Mine should be when Malaysia gain their independence on 31st of August 1957 thanks to British. If British didn't bomb Japan, Malaysia would be a Communist country.
Our Memorial Day is at 31 July every year.

its a bit late sorry

The men and women that fight to keep the country free from harm really dont get enough for it in my veiw and its all played down by so you never really know whats going unless you are there. which means the public dont get to see what the men and women go throw for us to live as we are now and whats more when the wars over its not really over for the people that were as they still have images good and bad in their mind.

they deserve a lot more respect than they get thats for sure. i know here in britain some younger people think its funny/fun to scare the older generation even tho that person could have put their life on the line to help make the world what it is today and thats how young people treat them. in my eyes its just not right
