So I just got A new iphone 3GS and i hooked it up to the computer, and waited for iTunes to detect it...Nothing! When I looked on my iphone my computer wasn't even charging it. I've tried multiple ports and update itunes to the latest software, any help?

Running on Vistas 64bit

Try a different USB cable. If you don't have one, then try connecting your iPhone to another computer or laptop. If it works on the other PC/laptop, then it's your cable.

If it doesn't work, then it's more than likely your cable.

If you do have another cable, try it on your PC. If it still doesn't work, use it on another PC/laptop.

If neither of the above works, then it's your iPhone and I suggest going to get it replaced. :)

If it's your PC that's the culprit, I'd suggest a very expensive fix and..... buy a Mac. :giggle:

good luck man!

Actually I' have tried several different USB ports and cables for my iphone, The phone is brand new so there can't be anything wrong with it yet, and when i hook up my Dad's iphone it still wouldn't connect. However, another computer recognized my iphone just fine. I did some googling and one of the solutions could be that my iphone drivers were not installed properly so im looking for a way to fix that, and no I shall never buyeth a mac!

I think the problem is that you bought an iPhone. I'm not an android troll because i have an iPhone myself :p but i just think there are better options :)

Alright, why don't we actually help him instead of telling him to buy something else? Also felon, that was unnecessary. Put your iphone into DFU mode, the way you do it is hold power and home button for 5 seconds, after the screen goes blank keep holding those buttons for another 3-4 seconds, then let go of the power button and keep holding the home button for another 10-15 seconds. Do this WHILE your iphone is plugged in. Hopefully it will show up in itunes and then do a full restore/update. Enjoy!

Putting the iPhone in DFU isn't necessary. He should follow the link I posted a few posts up.

Vista only got a bad rep due to it having very immature drivers at the time of launch.

Sounds like a rogue security program. Meaning its fake. Gonna be a little hard for you to remove it since you are inexperienced with these types of situations though. Go through msconfig and track down were its located via startup and services. Then reboot into safe mode and locate/delete it.
