OPINION POLL: Should people have to pay to moderate?

Well I was playing on this L4D2 server that needs some more moderartors but when I looked into it you had to pay a 20$ entry fee to become a mod with a 5$ per month fee to continue to be a mod. Do you think this is a good strategy to raise money for servers, or is it something that just gives kids with money a chance to power trip?

I personally think it would be like charging someone to help plow your fields; being a good moderator is work right? So at the very least they should be paying you; not the other way around.

Well I'm kinda confused on your poll, you said in the post that basically "should we (mods) pay to be mods", but in the poll it says for the options "a rich mod is a good mod", how can the mod get "rich" if he's the one that's paying to be one? lol.

If that's the case (which I'm sure this would never happen anyways), you can count me out because I'm not paying to be a mod. The way I pay is donating my time to moderate the servers, I sure ain't going to pay an entry fee and monthly charges to be one, this post is kinda ridiculous if you ask me but I can see why you made it, lol.

P.S. I also say that this is a perfect way to get the wrong people in the wrong places, I mean if all it takes if for you to pay these charges to be a Mod, IMO that's a disaster waiting to happen.

Our system and I know many other clans have it as well is, if you're a good overall member, we'll notice and give you a position. So far it's worked for us going on 2 years now (don't taze me for us having zack308 )

Paying to mod is epic fail. Consider the kind of person who would pay money on a monthly basis to be able to kick and ban people. I would bet a fair % of them are people who like to wield power who otherwise have none in RL. They want to buy what they consider respect. FAIL!
