About a month before Call of Duty World at War was released, a multiplayer beta version of the game was released to the public. In order to be a part of this beta, people either had to pre-order the game at select retailers or try to sign up through the Call of Duty official website.1
The beta had three maps: Makin, Roundhouse and Castle. There was also a map called "Airfield," but it was unplayable. Throughout the beta, there were updates to the game that implemented new content, and this is expected to continue with the release of the main title.
