S3 now has PunkBuster

Due to certain allegations, I have added PunkBuster on our Crossfire server.

You may end up seeing PB on our other servers, maybe. Never on S1 though. That puppy is not gonna get PB anytime soon.

Any who, feel free to discuss the change.

OK, so this is a little test project, sounds cool
i believe punkbuster doesnt work sometimes, i was in a server and an aimbot failed to get banned
we'll see how it goes

oh i was in a server yesterday and this guy i was like sure was walhacking didnt get banned. Only time i have thought pb missed a wallhacker. BUT, pb does get most of them. And it also includes bans made from demos, so it's not JUST the md5 scans.

PunkBuster will help when Staff Members aren't available. We know there are some hacks that aren't detected by PunkBuster but rest assured that soon enough they'll get banned.

And not a project. PunkBuster will be permanent on S3.

Well I hope it's not put on the TDM server because I don't like using PB. No I don't cheat, lol, but there is a program (MSI Afterburner) that I use to control my fan speeds on my video card that will not work with PB, and PB will kick you for it if you have it running. I don't like crossfire much anyways, I just hope it's not put on the TDM server too.

bye bye s3. why? as I said I play on my laptop and many of u can see my ping is always around 300 or 400. So if u now add pb I dont think I will be able to get in.

I think that PB works for a gross majority of players...

So chances are your problem is easily fixable.

my "problem" is 600 ping when my usual is 80-110. Also, i dont like the program at all.

You don't like the program? Tell me nick, what exactly does the program do? How does it work, what are its functions, and what kindn of programming is it? Do you know? Or do you arbitrarily hate the thing based on hearsay and a few bad experiences? I have had to manually update pb many times. I have gotten kicked for bs reasons. Yes, that is annoying. No, I do not hate the software. Punkbuster does not ad 600 ping normally.

Punkbuster isn't a bad program. Anything that helps catch hackers, I'm all for it.

Yes it does kick people for non hacks, a lot of the time due to steam overlays or any other program that uses overlays such as MSI which i get kicked for as well. I don't like turning it off because my GPU fan speed then goes to 40% and my GPU gets hot.

Almost every non hack related kick can be solved by Googling the message PB gives you when you get kicked.

Though, I was thinking of just having the MSI Display thing off since I already know my GPU doesn't jump in temps too high. I'll just make it a habit to check the temps between maps. Or having MSI on (even if the display notification is off), will PB kick you for it?

Went to S3 about 45 minutes ago. Was there for a good 10 minutes with Brian. Good news, MSI now works with PB! Yeah buddy!

At least it works on mine and it also works on Brian's PC.
