New Annoyance

First people started getting annoyed at post whores for their constant barrage of meaningless shit. But now I have noticed a new problem. We have developed people who constantly post videos or pictures that are funny with the intent of getting a "Thanked Post". I have noticed several people doing this and I was just wondering if anyone else had noticed. I'm not suggesting any drastic measures should be done, I would just like some feedback.

Yea i don't see an issue here. I just ignore most of the Youtube posts. How do you know they are posting with the sole intention of getting a thanks? If someone is making posts just to get a thanks i would agree that's pretty stupid but i don't see an issue unless it becomes excessive spam.

I see yall's point about ignoring it, but if I'm on my iPod and there's a shitload of posts about random stuff, it takes forever to sort through because of how slow my wifi is.

I guess what I'm saying is whether or not there's a way to selectively mark posts as read.

Anyone know?

Your problem shouldn't be the videos and/or posts; it's your WiFi. Get better WiFi and you'll get annoyed faster!

In all seriousness, it doesn't bother me because the majority of the videos & pictures are quite funny. We also gotta thank the person for posting some funny posts.

It's a useful feature and I'm not saying that because I'm the top-thanked.

I know that and this post was not directed at you, it's just I've noticed an influx of pretty random crap. I just wonder if something can be done to where we could individually mark posts as read or not.
The thing is that YouTube embedding doesn't show up on my iPod and so all I see is someones post and maybe a few words, but no video. I normally watch them when I get onto my main computer, but the only reason I bring this up is because of the embedding confliction.

Embedding works and looks fine from my iPhone.

And there's a "Mark Forum" feature. Let me go find the way to do so.

Within the forum, say "Forum Suggestions / Issues". At the very top of this section, there is a "Forum Tools" button. Click it, and click on "Mark this forum read". It'll do the trick for that section.

Isn't that what the random media section is for? Random media that people want other people to think is funny? And if people think its funny and then give the person a "thanks" as a sign of that, then wouldn't wanting to get thanks really just be a different means to the end of making people laugh on the forum?

Maybe make sub-forums for the random media section.

If it's just that people are responding to posts outside of the Random media section using pictures all the time, i still don't see a problem. I mean, whether there's a picture in it or not, a stupid post is a stupid post, and ridiculing the post nubs will make them stop >.< .

Also, maybe you can configure safari to wait to display certain types of things until you tell it to manually, on an individual basis (context menu crap). Anyone know?

As far as I know, no one's been asking. Nothing wrong with posting videos/pics as long as their in the proper sections, ya know.
