As some of you may know my desktop took a shit a few weeks ago when some little doohickey blew up on my motherboard. I have decided to attempt to build my own. In order to run BO I need the following at a minimum::

Code:
OS: Windows® Vista / XP / 7
Processor: Intel® Core™2 Duo E6600 or AMD Phenom™ X3 8750 or better
Memory: 12 GB free hard drive space / 2GB RAM
Video Card: Shader 3.0 or better 256MB NVIDIA® GeForce® 8600GT / ATI Radeon® X1950Pro or better

Any suggestions on what I should get for this?
Money is a concern so I'll be utilizing some of the parts from my old desktop such as cd/dvd drives, etc

Thanks for the assist

First and foremost, we need to know a budget. This will be our guide so we can get you some price quotes.

Another thing is, I'm assuming you'll be using the following parts form your current PC:
Hard Drive
CD/DVD Drive
Operating System

Anything else really isn't worth adding to the new PC because some parts may not work, e.i. Memory Sticks.

Lastly, do you know if your HD and CD/DVD drive are SATA or PATA? I ask because if your stuff is a bit old (PATA) than the new motherboard may not support your stuff, or it may but your choices will be limited.

Almost forgot, either let us know your Zip Code or give us a general Zip Code so we can figure out how much stuff is shipped and/or taxes come out to be.

I would get a new hard drive. Your old one has probably a few years on it.

Nothing else to add since Wally covered it all.

#1 thing to know is the working budget.

You can save a couple bucks by buying a cheaper case. Just be sure it's an ATX Mid Tower case.

Items not included in the price:
-Hard Drive (If using the one you have, save your stuff and always do a fresh install of the OS)
-OS (you can always use the current one you already have)
-Cooling Fan (though one is already included with your CPU so it's no biggie)
-Thermal Paste

I have a feeling I have left something out but not sure yet. I'll think about it and will post back if I can remember.

I'll put some time into this a bit later, but i would go with an AMD quad core over an Intel Dual core. More performance, less cost.

I have had 3 AMD, all great, all great prices, all kick azz.

I am running the 965 Black Edition and I'm very happy with it.

My brother has the X2 550 dual core Black Edition. Unlocked the other 2 cores went from 6.4 WEI to a 7.5!!!! No overclock, just unlocking the cores!!! The newest revision is out X2 555 BE and it's $89!!!

I'll put some time into this a bit later, but i would go with an AMD quad core over an Intel Dual core. More performance, less cost.
