While on vacation I went swimming with my apple device....and killed it. My iphone was completly submerged in water for about 5 minutes before I noticed but alas...it was too late.

If anyone has any advice on how to revive an iphone that short circuted due to water damage, please feel free. (if i have to send it back to apple im gonna say it got hit with an EMP)

um erm maybe throw it in a bag of rice? works if u get phones a little wet. So idk if it will work when alot of water is applied.

You can't lie about what happens to it, the warranty is probably voided by water damage, and they have a sticker inside the phone that changes colors when it gets wet, and voids the warranty if it is peeled off. Use marker just kidding .

I sold my water (cough) damaged iPhone on Ebay for $100.

I think they can re-use the screen, case, etc.

Well the best thing to do IMO would have been to immediately soak it with fresh water, let it dry and hope it worked.

That probably would have made no difference. I dropped my ipod into the pool a few years ago. After trying for days to fix it, i sent it back to Apple and told them it had stopped working for no good reason. They sent me a new one within a week. It's a long shot, but i would try sending it back or selling it as Pwn said. Their are probably water sensors inside the phone though that will let Apple know it's been water damaged.

i dropped my blackberry in a cup of soda once. I took out the battery soked it in fresh water to rinse the soda out. i then took the case off of it and put it in a bag of rice. after a day i went back and tried to turn it on. nothing. I then got a new blackberry. after a couple days just out of curiosity i tried one last time b4 i parted out my phone and it worked perfectly. I then had 2 blackerries. This made my wife really happy because i had told her she couldnt have one because she had no job at the time and now i had no choice but to let her use one of them. So if you dont want to buy a new one then try those steps.

It slipped out of my hands and my 2 yo daughter was nice enough to catch the phone with her cup. which had soda in it. To make things even worse is that i don't let my kids have soda. Thanks grandma.

Your insurance for the phone doesn't cover water damage? I broke my phone the sent it to the company in the mail and got a new one for free.

AFAIK, iPhones don't have any sort of insurance coverage through AT&T. Sucks but that's the way it is.

Apple wont cover it through warranty either. They have white water damage strips throughout the phone that turns pink as soon as water gets on them. If you take the phone for warranty they'll void your warranty on the spot.

Your best bet is to visit craigslist to try to find a shop that fixes iPhones. There are TONS of them in Los Angeles. Be sure to ask them if the phone is fixable before letting do any work though that way you'll avoid paying anything for them just looking at it..
