Do animals have dreams?

The reason I ask... I'm sitting here using the PC and it's 2:30am... My computer is in my doggie's room. All of a sudden a hear this faint cry. I slowly turn around and he does it 3 more times and while doing so he's quivering. After that, he lets out a very faint bark.

I went on to wake the little guy up.

So do animals have nightmares?

They definately dream.

Chief (our dalmatian) would be sleeping (which he does often), and occasionally all his legs would start moving like he was running (except they would only move a few inches, but still in sync like he was running).

Prolly dreaming of chasing a rabbit. Or a roast chicken.

our dog always shakes her leg a bit when shes asleep. Dr Karl, one of australia's best scientists, reckons that when we dream we usually shake or flutter our eyes... something to think about

Haha Wally, I'm pretty sure they dream too. I've seen more than one dog that's done it. The dog I used to have would do the same thing you guys are talking about. The whines, legs moving like they're running after or away from something. So to your question Wally, they definitely dream.

That was really strange though.

Wonder if they ever dream about being in a PlayboyDoggie Mansion lol

My dog was humping my gf in her sleep. Note the dog was sleeping and the girl was holding her.

I think they do, my cat makes funny noises and kicks her feet and stops when you pet her softly enough not to wake her up
