a new iMac 27" or I'd take the Mac Pro. 8)

That's cuz I'm being lazy and don't know what good stuff is out there to build a PC.

I would just sort by price and pretty much buy the most expensive.
Mind you, Atomic magazine just did a story on the fastest machine possible.
4 video cards! Dual cross fire. Mind you, it had some driver issues. They also had to use two power supplies.
But realistically multi cores are not always better. I went with a faster dual core as opposed to a slower quad core, because in the real world (well, the gaming world) it was faster.
So basically:
1. Processor - whatever is the fastest, but prolly intel
2. Memory - 4 gig should do it
3. Mobo - prolly Gigabyte - intel chipsets
4. Video Card or Cards - crossfire 2 x the most expensive
5. Hard Drive - SSD. All it needs in windowz and cod4
6. Case - Lian Li FTW. Good cooling, good filtration and easy to work on
7. Power Supply - Prolly need at least a kilowatt. Or 1.21 gigawatts
8. CPU Cooler - air should do it. Water is a PITA
9. Operating System - If it was me, I'd prolly still go WinXP, or maybe Win7 if it was a sole gaming rig and I didn't have to network
10. Audio Card and audio system with head phones - Yes and No. Standalone sound card for sure. And network card. The onboard stuff uses CPU overhead. But no phones, 5.1 surround.
11. Mouse - Intellimouse explorer
12. Keyboard - standard.

13 - a sound proof room. With quality locks, hehe.
