It's been a while and I know I've been asking for advices on computers for over 1 year now. Hilarious, and.. guess what! I'm switching to Windows!!!

Listening to my friends and of course, you guys, my k3 family... I decided to change from APPLE.. to WINDOW's OS! Therefore, no more "I can't play that game because I have a Mac stuff" or "which mac should I get 21?" or macbook pro? or 5k new imac? stuff" nah. I've decided to go windows for gaming and make my own rig! So here's my specs, not like.. the best! but it's been ordered and soon to be assemble!

I'm not really big into cases, I mean that one seem pretty easy for me to build. Thing is I'm probably going to do it myself so I need a case for dummies -.- I saw a few vids about it and it seems pretty easy. Which one you recommend tho?

Well you can get a Define R4 Blackout for 79 USD, it's easy to build into and looks & performs great.

the cpu is a bit over kill for just gaming an i5 would have been if this is the case and then with the money you saved spend on a better motherboard, graphics card or ram.

really unless your video editing or something like that an i7 wont improve game play at all and even in some case can perform worse than an i5 does due to the way most games handle cpu usage.

Well the i7 is more future proof. Newer games are actually recommending an i7 or an i5. Yes, I know recommended specs can usually be taken with a grain of salt, but some games to require a ridiculous cpu. Total War series games for example run like on an i5 with jacked up settings.

In the end, as you said, it really does come down to the way the game is optimized, but a lot of new games are going the way of the i7.

If you want to save on Windows 10, you can buy W8 Pro for like $40 US on g2a.com and use the free upgrade!.

Otherwise, that's pretty damn powerful for a first build! You'll have no problem with most (if not all) recent games.

yes some games do run better with more cores but it depends the sort of games you play. i was thinking save some money from the cpu by getting an i5 and spend it on a better GPU or other areas of the build that are weak. I would agree that the i7 is a better future proof way of doing it but that cpu is already out dated by skylake but i guess by the time you need an i7 for gaming most of todays stuff would be out dated.

an i5 might struggle to run some games maxed out but then when you look at the selected gpu, i dont see that many of these games would be maxed out yet again i was looking at the bigger picture and thinking an i5 and upgrade to gpu might be more worth while than just going i7 and a lesser gpu.
