I will be graduating from high school in 5 days (and will be attending Oregon State university next fall) and am looking for a laptop for my graduation gift. You guys succesfully helped me build my desktop, so I was hoping you could give me some suggestions for laptops. While I am a it more informed on computers this time around, there are so many choices out there that it is hard to choose and some help narrowing it down would be appreciated. Some high maintenance requirements:
$1000-1500 USD. This isn't super firm, but this is the price range it should be near, anything much higher and that is off the table.
Gaming capabilities. CoD4 and TF2. Don't want them to look like shit, but it doesn't have to run Crysis max settings 300 FPS.
Value for parts. I know laptops are harder to get the actual value of each part due to difficulty of customization, but relative value please. Obviously no Alienware.
Sleek and slim. Not only is Alienware overpriced, I don't think they look nice. Something looking like Apple is nice, doesn't have to be metal though, ust a nice looking product. i.e. Razer Blade.
Size. No strict requirements, but nothing too big.
Windows 7 is preferable, but I can install it myself if need be.
If you have any questions regarding specs or graduation or whatever, don't hesitate to ask.
Thanks, Reed
From my looking this is my best find so far
