Hello,
I wrote this multipage really deep (at least I thought it was) thing, but then deleted it.
I want to ask......
How do you people define what this place is?
How does this organization affect you?
To paraphrase some:
This forum to me is a place where I can work my problems out. I have. Many times. Many of the instances where I have saved myself figuring out life here still embarrass me. To no end. I'm sure some can relate.
But.... I'm learning to accept them and be proud of my little journey here.
To me this forum is that. It is a mirror for me. It gives me insight into myself and gives me a place to vent anything that is going on in my head. And to me, on some level, it is comprised of people do the same thing.
We all present ourselves here, and we put a lot of thought into it. Our personas over time are saved here.
And, as such, I keep coming back to these people and this place. CoD4 is secondary. Broadcast has gotten boring, I find no reason to practice or compete in cod, I haven't the hardware to do it...etc.
But I keep coming back, and every time I come back, I have a new me to present. I am excited to bring my life to this place, and I'm excited to see what other people have brought to this place. Here we compete on every level of personal growth. We share and find acknowledgement of our worth. The list goes on and on.
The people here have changed my life. This place has been a lens into my flaws, but in the same light has been a mechanism to derive my personal success.
As such, this place is defined and comprised of the people who spend their time here. Not only that, it is a museum for members and others alike to see the people who have come, stayed, and left go through their lives.
This place is one huge social experiment.
CoD4 is tiny compared to this clan.
I have left a lot of times, now. However, my relationship with this place is more a reflection of what's really going on in my life than this place actually affects my life.
So before you make that post about how this forum or this game is holding you back from reaching that singular transcendence or self-actualization you are seeking in life, consider that this clan is made of you. It doesn't define you. It's the other way around.
In other words,
CoD4 will die, whether tomorrow or in 20 years. But I doubt that this clan will go with it.
Having said this,
I was going to say too many words more. But basically, I have left many times. I have had to leave to go on with my life or move forward. I understand that many people will have to do the same to figure out whatever they need to figure out. But after all this, I have come to a point where I realize that this place is a good part of my life that I am proud of, despite how much of my jackassery is preserved here. I find more and more that what I thought was "wasted time" when I was younger has become cherished points of reality for me.
In conclusion,
I'm glad I come back. I'm glad I left, too.
Just consider that there's a lot to learn in this place, and we love your company, even when it's only for a few minutes a day.... even when we say we don't.
Consider it.... we'd love it if you stayed.
Dude
