I start my next college course in September and need a new portable hard drive as im using an 8gb flash drive atm. If anyone has any ideas about which 1 to get it would be much appreciated.

I just bought this a week or so ago and it works great. Very small in size and very portable. No power cable needed , it's powered by plugging into the PC via USB. My only gripe is that the cable is very, very short. I think it's a foot long. (5 dollah!) I'll put up a picture so you can get an idea. After i filled mine up i just stuck it back into the case.

This is my 4th WD HDD and all are still going strong.

I may have to go for this 1. the auto cloud backup will come in great use as i cant afford to lose any work.

I have the blue version of the WD Ultra.
I initially had a issue with loud ticking at the start, but it went away (I believe because my front panel USB wasn't pumping enough power out).
Anyway, loads of space, really fast USB 3.0. Love it

I got a Toshiba 1TB for about 40 US dollars and it's still working 100% just fine. It's always plugged in and it's definitely the best thing I could have bought.
