To SSD or nor to SSD

So i have been toying with the idea of getting an SSD for my battle pc:
here's some of my question/musings about it:

Worth it?

How to migrate the OS without reinstalling a new version or w/e (is there good software?)

do I install games to it too or just the OS...

I'd go up to 200 for a good one...most reliable?

If you have SATA III, then I say yes. There is plenty of good cloning software out there that makes migration a breeze. Personally, I would make a linux boot flash drive and use GParted to clone the drive, but there are easier ways to do it from within Windows. XD

Don't get Kingston, they cheapified their parts. @Joonikko could recommend a good drive.

is dis gud?
[DOUBLEPOST=1435425008,1435424861][/DOUBLEPOST]if the games can go on the other drives i have then i wont really need a big one but if the advantage is that great in having them on the same drive..then i'll go with the bigger.. or even perhaps a 960gb crucial M500

this is what i have to work with if i want it on island ..otherwise its ordering from the mainland US

Definitely get an SSD. 250GB is enough to store the OS and a few games. Install the games you hardly use on the HDD and you're set.
[DOUBLEPOST=1435425424,1435425253][/DOUBLEPOST]And you may want to visit Slickdeals if you want to save a few bucks.

oh and most important will i have to "get " a new key?
AFAIK, and in my experience, activation is tied to the motherboard. I would think that cloning the Windows partition onto the SSD would not result in a deactivation.

Once you go ssd, you never go back.

I really recommend one, I had someone I know build in a Kingston Hyper X 128GB in my mac mini about 1,5 months ago and it's a fucking world of a difference..
Your games don't get more fps but anything that needs reading and writing on your pc will be super fast.

If it's true what Kreubs says about Kingston I guess don't get one. The Samsung drives are always a good deal. Solid stuff. (see what I did there)

If it helps G, i did read an article recently that said that the price of ssd's are falling big time and will soon be on a par with hdd's with regards to price per gigabyte. I don't know how true it is, but it might be worth doing a bit of research and if true, hold fire for a bit, see what happens.

I heard that too. Sandisk said they are cooking something up that will be competitively priced with HDDs of the same size.

Still no word on pricing. Apparently production went into full swing this month, if all went according to plan.

If Sandisk can pull this off, then this probably could mean $50-$70 256GB SSDs.

SSD is the way to go. I don't see myself ever buying another hard drive again. Samsung makes good SSD's, I've been sticking with Crucial SSD's for while now. I own 3 of them and love them all. Most SSD's are reliable now a days, it was back on the SATA II drives when the Sandforce controller was new and awful.

Best Buy will price match any item price online or in store and they sometimes beat it up to %10. I've had some of my best service from Best Buy ever. I love buying from a store now, because I can actually bring it back to the store for exchange, even if I bought it online. So that means I don't have to ship anything back.

Back when I knew nothing about computers, when I was still playing on an old Acer Aspire laptop, I went to Best Buy to get a "gaming laptop". They showed me the HP Pavilion dv7, which I ended up buying. I was told by the employees that it could run Crysis at 1920x1080 and high settings. It ran CoD4 on medium at best...

Since then I have not touched best buy for anything. They may have gotten better, but that experience made me hate them.

Yea I wouldn't trust anyone picking out a PC for me at any shop lol Maybe Linus from NCIX since he makes good reviews. I just like how they handle stuff now a days. This is also the first year my city has a Best Buy.

This.
Edit: come to think of it, there is only one place I would trust to build a good rig, but that's also because it's a component shop so it's sort of all they do anyway.
