Racism definition.

Something I recently had my eyes opened to, thanks to Take, Jasmine and Tito.

"Race is a classification system used to categorize humans into large and distinct populations or groups by anatomical, cultural, ethnic, genetic, geographical, historical, linguistic, religious, and/or social affiliation."

I assumed that the name "Islam is evil" is not racist as saying something similiar like "Scientology is evil", or "Jediism is evil" is generally not considered racist. I didn't think slating someone's religion could be racist, as also it is commonly "racist" to slander someones skin colour.

If anyone sees anyyyyy slander towards someone's anatomical, cultural, ethnic, genetic, geographical, historial, linguistic, religious or social affiliation, tell me and I will kick their ass off S1.

This offends me.

Insulting someone's language, social affiliation, religion, or culture should really not be classified as racist, IMO, because those things can change.

If we classify somebody calling someone an idiot for hanging out with hippies as racism, then we have juat taken a step backwards and joined the political correctness nitpicker crowd, and it's downhill from there.

I think something should only be classified as racist only if it purposely defames a person's physical attribute/quality.

to me racism is if anyone makes a statement that promotes the idea that one group of a human ethnicity or nationality is superior to another. or if anyone makes a statement with the purpose of degrading a ethnicity or nationality. thats pretty much it for me, i dont see the need to get overly picky about it. as racism is defined in the books, even saying f.ex: ,,brazilians are good at football" it is racism, since you generalyze an ethnic group or nationality, i dont think we need to get down that road and, as kreubs put it, drown ourselfs in political correctness.

the rest you counted up in the original post as religion and social affiliation etc. should indeed not be ignord if insulted, but it shouldnt get the kind of banhammer as blatenly insulting sth. because of skincoulor or sth like that. i think we have mods that can handle this kind of stuff according to situation.

f.ex if a player calls another player a ginger over and over and you notice the other player gets mad about it, proceed with warnings and kick etc.

on the other hand if f.ex. moment calls me a ****** because i just killed him in game, i dont think he needs a ban for racism because he is insulting a social affiliation

I think you need to slow down before you start kicking people left and right. Kicking someone for a name like 'Islam is evil' is absurd, IMO. One of the things that attracted me to the KKK server(s) in the first place was that i could say things that might be considered a bit off color and not have a mod throw a fit. In other words, i could chill out, relax and play without worrying about a mod nit picking me, which happened a LOT on other servers.

That's how i feel about it.

You can't please everyone. Someone, somewhere is always going to be offended about something.

If it's genuinely causing a problem on the server, causing multiple people to complain and leave, that can be dealt with, but let's not go overboard here.

So, are you saying that nobody can have an opinion towards things? I'm a devout follower of Christ. Do many people agree with what I believe? No, but I'm not going to call them racist because of what they believe. There is a fine line between hating someone and hating what they believe. You can say stuff without being hateful. Buuuuuut, even without the intention of hurting someone, somebody is going to flip out about it.

The whole purpose of political correctness is to turn people into robots. Will people get offended over things? Yes. Boo hoo. Build a bridge and get over it. It's part of life. You can't control what people think and believe.

Totally agreed. I also am a Christian, but if someone said "Christianity is evil" I wouldn't flip out. I would instead feel compassion for their suppression of the truth. IMO, the line is crossed when someone insults/berates the individual person ex. (You idiot Christian/Muslim/Whatever)

in the specific case, which gave birth to this thread, I think the word racism is strong, which does not prevent, to be offended by this kind of nickname, some crying for racism, but rather I would go to "No respect for other players"
