The Word "Nigga"

Nigga is used mainly among African Americans, but also among other minorities and ethnicities, in a neutral or familiar way and as a friendly term of address. It is also common in rap music. However, nigga is taken to be extremely offensive when used by outsiders. Many people consider this word to be equally as offensive as nig.ger. The words nig.ger and nigga are pronounced alike in certain dialects, and so it has been claimed that they are one and the same word.

noun Slang: Usually Disparaging and Offensive.
a black person.

Origin:
alteration of nig.ger, based on pronunciation

IN OTHER WORDS, DONT USE IT ON OUR SERVERS:ty:

I agree with bob, but I don't think it should be an outright ban. If someone comes into the server and says something like "what's up my nigga's" then they deserve a warning. It's not racist in that context as far as I am concerned. If they then go on to abuse someone, then yes, instaban!!
It's all about context as far as I am concerned

I agree with animal. As far as it isn't offensive, a warning should be enough...

While I agree with Bob and Animal alike, my opinion is that the word should not be uttered in any way or form on the K3 server. Whether it's used as slang or in an offensive way, it is not respectful.

In the worst case scenario, people might start relating the clan's name "KKK" to the original KKK if they see it being used in ANY way, which will discredit people from coming to our servers.

If it ever became a real issue we could always make it one of the server rules like "Server Rule 09: No use of offensive language such as the N**** word."[DOUBLEPOST=1396627732][/DOUBLEPOST]
I don't believe it should be tolerated at all.
Instaban
Ask for appeal
then unban if they seems like good people.
We should give them at least one warning first. Some people don't mean it offensively and maybe they don't know better. Giving an instaban is to harsh. Unless they have a history of abusing it

To the point of people not using it offensively, I've never seen that. Any time that word pops up in server that I've seen, it's always been derogatory.

My opinion: Either one is a ban.

We have to be intransigent with racisme. for all these formes.the nigga word deformation is a ******, so it is the same thing!
If made the african-american used each other it is their problem.
I know colored people who does not appreciate that word at all.
among the people of African origins do not like rap. Let us not forget that our waitress is available to the world even with African I seem to remember that we have in our staff(or member) a person from Angola.

I'd leave it up to mods to warn or insta ban for the word 'nigga', depending on the context.
For different reasons, really.
Someone might not use it to offend others.
Someone might not know the rule.
If we warn him/her first, they might stop and not much harm will be done.
If they keep using it... Well, ban them. Won't do much more harm.
On the other hand, if we ban him/her instantly and on sight, they wight not even notice what the website is to register and appeal.

The main thing is that the word should be treated equally by every and each Staff member.
When someone uses it in not-so-offensive way, we should not have one mod instantly banning people and another warning them multiple times.
If the majority decides that 'nigga' should warrant a ban on sight (despite the fact that I do belive that it would be wrong), 'nigga' should be added to the b3 blacklist, same as 'nig.ger'

unban if appeal is made otherwise stick to what we have

I personally warn them first and it never happens from them after that anyway.

It's fairly easy to judge the mood and connotation used...I find it mostly used in a friendly way ..
b3 insta ban? i would vote no
warning if the person is saying "sup mah nigga" ? meh no big deal (imo)
used in anger /derogatory way then yes ban.. again it's fairly easy to tell if it's used hurtfully,Mods are chosen for their maturity and judgement of these situations...When in doubt try and discuss it maturely or get another mods opinion..

That's pretty much what I was speaking about.
I do belive it should not be an insta ban,
but non-offensive use of the word (not the word in general) should be treated equally.
Not like someone permbans for 'sup mah nigga' and the other one doesn't even warn

This thread is out of line and very irrelevant. This rule has already been established and it doesn't need to be argued over. Mods are very understanding in our server's and they can tell the difference between something that is being used offensively and something that is not. You should consult moderators on rules before making a thread on a rule that is already in place.
Edit: As some have stated above: Mods can tell when the words are used in each way. It is at their discretion to decide wether the player should be warned or banned.

Well, I think a 51-year-old former moderator who's been a member for over years knows what he does.
Honestly, the rule that's in place is not very clear and it does cause problems.

@MikeK The rule states no trash talk. That includes no racist terms. Pretty clear tbh. Refer to the server's rules thread where @WaLLy states that the no trash talk rule is to not be looked over. And to act accordingly. Further proving my previous post. I'm not trying to argue with anyone. If anyone wishes to change the rule then create a thread with a poll. There is no reason to continue to argue over the subject. Leave it to a poll.
