Forum planned move: Nov. 13-14

Hello everyone,

If all goes planned, our forum will be moved to our NY machine on Nov. 13th-14th. At the moment, we're in our last stages of testing (new forum software) and should all be done by this weekend.

With our forum move to our NY machine, we will enjoy a few perks that go along with it and all will be put on our to-do list:
-access S1 with krewgaming.com (domain name)
-access our TS3 server with our domain name
-access our redirect with our domain name

Some downsides post-move:
-possibly lose visitor messages
-loss of groups; newly created ones will need to be made unless I can pull a rabbit out of a magician's hat

Don't remember anymore downsides. But part of the planned move is to warn everyone, if they know you have something that's on here that you cherish or is important, please back it up. Attachments that have been uploaded onto our forum may or may not get moved. Avatars/profile pictures I do not foresee it being a problem but just in case, back it up.


Any questions thus far?

Just an update. I've been working on the forum move since last night. Unfortunately, a few web server apps aren't playing nice when they're hosted on a 2nd drive. And whenever I make a change it usually asks me to give the machine a restart and since we have peeps in S1 at the moment, I usually don't do it 'til I see the server population under 10.

I went ahead and moved the broken images onto the SSD so at least our current forum isn't ugly . I'll give important updates as they come.

Progress! I'm 95% sure I'm ready for the migration. Just need to give the NY machine another reboot but 2 servers are being used. I'll wait a bit 'til the population dies down tonight.

Baffles me as to how one person can be so efficient!

Lol tomb. No, key is just planning ahead. I usually plan to do this stuff on my days off.

Gave the server a reboot just now. I'd start the move right now but I kinda took a little too much of Robitussin (sp?). I'm currently fighting the mild flu

Did you get your flu shot this year?, you know your suppose to get those every year right? lol

Yeah, about that.. I got it last Friday lol . I started with a sore throat on Sunday morning, and it got progressively worse. Funny thing is that I haven't gotten fully sick. Just a runny nose and a cough here and there.


Another update, Xenforo is giving me an issue installing it on the machine. vBulletin installs fine. So it's a bit puzzling. Worked fine prior to the reformat. Although, the only difference is I'm currently using a newer PHP version (5.5). Might have to try using the version (5.4) prior to the reformat.

That's one of the reasons I never get a flu shot, studies show that if you GET it your more likely to get the flu as well. Call me a conspiracy theorist or whatever, don't bother me a bit, I've just seen way too many people get the shot and get sick shortly after. Not to mention all of the possible side affects listed on CDC's website and, when you get a vaccine it bypasses your immune system because it's injected directly in to your blood, not the gut (immune). Anyways I've read enough about this that I have never or will ever get a flu shot, and I have not had the flu (maybe once or twice) in my entire life, you don't need those shots...

I've gotten the flu quite a few times. First time I've actually gotten the shot though. We'll see how it goes throughout the year.

Test install has been installed. Time to buy the license and make the official install

Will this page automatically redirect to the new forum? I'm kind of in the dark on all of this.

That's the idea. At worst case scenario, clearing the cookies/cache should do the trick. It all depends on how long the DNS takes to propagate with the new IP.

I'll start backing up the forum tomorrow morning. Expect a new thread then.
