They're eyeglasses. An easy way to tell, particularly when someone's head's turned at an angle, is to compare where their cheek and forehead hit and where their eye socket lines up. The dilation of the lens, if prescription, will give the socket a sunken or enlarged appearance; depending on whether the wearer is short or near-sighted.As you'll observe, my right (viewer left) socket is sunken in and out of line with my cheek.
